
Kersten Appler
Director of Development & Operations
In her own words, Kersten describes why her position with French & Pickering is a natural fit:
“I am fortunate that my position marries my love of people and my passion for environmental conservation! I enjoy the opportunity to build a community that will make a far-reaching positive impact for today and the future.”
Kersten Appler has worked in land conservation for several decades. Her career path was forged in 1999 when she became French & Pickering’s first Easement Monitoring Intern in 1999. In the years that followed, Kersten’s professional experiences included 3.5 years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Central America, and 5 years with the Brandywine Conservancy.
Kersten rejoined the French & Pickering team in 2012. Since her return, Kersten has worked in nearly every aspect of the organization, with her most recent appointment being Director of Development and Operations. Her primary responsibilities include fundraising, marketing and communications.
In addition to her work for French & Pickering, Kersten is on the East Pikeland Planning Commission.
When not working, you can find Kersten, her husband and their two boys adventuring near and far! As outdoor enthusiasts, they enjoy watersports, hiking and camping.
Interesting fact: Kersten is fluent in Spanish.
