Devault, Pa., May 26, 2023 — French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust has been awarded a $112,200 grant by the Chester County Commissioners to purchase a conservation easement on the 37.6-acre Nesspor family property in East Coventry Township. In addition to funding through Chester County’s Preservation Partnership Program, East Coventry Township has committed $337,800 to help secure preservation of this high priority project.
The purchase of this easement supports the continuation of agricultural activities, extinguishes all future primary development rights, and prohibits subdivision of the land. This property is highly visible from Ellis Woods and Ebelhare Roads, is within a half mile of the Township’s Ellis Woods Preserve, and permanently preserves this historic farmstead for future generations.
“This County grant funding is critical, helps strengthen our partnership with East Coventry, and expands our protection efforts in the Pigeon Creek Watershed,” said Pam Brown, Conservation Director. Executive Director Bill Gladden added “French & Pickering, our members, and partners appreciate the Chester County Commissioners ongoing support and the County Parks & Preservation Department for their assistance throughout the grant process.”
