DESCRIPTION:Delight in what has become a beloved annual tradition with Patty & John Werth of the Valley Forge Audubon Society- the Worm Moon Walk!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNamed after March’s bright full moon\, the Worm Moon signifies the transition from winter to spring. Hikers will set off after dusk on the trails of Thomas P. Bentley Nature Preserve to observe the full moon and hopefully hear the distinctive calls of woodcocks and owls. Enjoy a campfire and refreshments afterward. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather\, including sturdy shoes. Adults Only. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED. SUMMARY:Explaining Stream Buffers with David Wise
DESCRIPTION:*** This lecture is now fully remote. Please check your email if you registered for in-person attendance. *** \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStreams come in all shapes and sizes. Some are small\, some large\, and some are lined with grasses while others are lined by trees. These vegetative areas around streams are called “stream buffers” and they play a valuable role in the quality of our water. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease join us for an evening with Davis Wise as he explains the dynamics behind stream buffers. He will discuss the differences between grassy buffers and tree-lined buffers\, how these characteristics we seemingly overlook impact on our environment\, and how we can use this knowledge as a motivator for protecting and restoring streamside forests. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDavid Wise is the Watershed Restoration Manager at Stroud Water Research Center where he works to promote ecologically-sound management of southeastern Pennsylvania’s natural resources\, with special focus on its aquatic ecosystems.
