Streams come in all shapes and sizes. Some are small, some large, and some are lined with grasses while others are lined by trees. These vegetative areas around streams are called “stream buffers” and they play a valuable role in the quality of our water.

Please join us for an evening with Davis Wise as he explains the dynamics behind stream buffers. He will discuss the differences between grassy buffers and tree-lined buffers, how these characteristics we seemingly overlook impact on our environment, and how we can use this knowledge as a motivator for protecting and restoring streamside forests.

David Wise is the Watershed Restoration Manager at Stroud Water Research Center where he works to promote ecologically-sound management of southeastern Pennsylvania’s natural resources, with special focus on its aquatic ecosystems. David also conducts research projects to improve stream buffer restoration methods.
