Mark your calendar for French & Pickering’s 22nd Annual
French Creek Iron Tour!
Sunday, June 9, 2024
When you ride in the French Creek Iron Tour, you have a direct impact on the preservation of the scenic countryside that surrounds you. Since 1967, French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust has protected more than 13,500 acres and created greenways and trails along the two creeks. Historically important lands are included in those 13,500 acres.
The Iron Tour has distance options of 11, 20, 32, 50, 62, 75, and 100 miles for road courses, and two gravel courses- the Petite Gravel (60-70 miles) and the Grande Gravel (80-90 miles) with approximately 40% on gravel. There’s something for every type of rider, from a short ride through breathtaking countryside to a century route to a Grueling Gravel Challenge!
Help French & Pickering reach the 2023 Sponsorship goal! As a Corporate Sponsor, your contribution will go directly toward the cost of protecting, stewarding and connecting people to the land in northern Chester County. In turn, we would promote your business to the community, letting them know that you are a partner in French & Pickering’s work.
Each year, more than 100 volunteers come together to make the Iron tour a success. Run almost entirely by volunteers, the Iron Tour has been recognized as one of the most organized and well-supported rides in the region. Even if you can only give a few hours, we will appreciate it. Join the fun!
What will be offered for lunch? Will there be support along the routes? When does registration close? Can I register the day of the ride? Are there hotels nearby? Who is French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust? Find the answers to these questions and more in the 2024 FAQ.
The French Creek Iron Tour starts and ends at the Kimberton Fairgrounds in Phoenixville, PA. If you’re coming from afar, we offer several of the most commonly used routes here to get you started on planning your adventure to join in the fun of the 2023 French Creek Iron Tour!

2023 Iron Tour Jersey

The 21st Annual French Creek Iron Tour jersey depicts an original painting by local artist Deb Kuhn.
This artwork was inspired by the 1,500 acre periglacial Great Marsh in northern Chester County, known as one of Pennsylvania’s rarest environmental treasures.
The Great Marsh is said to be untouched by human interference. It was near but not under the last glacier that descended on Pennsylvania 8-10,000 years ago, hence the term periglacial. French & Pickering’s Templin Woods Preserve is located within the Great Marsh boundary and several of the Iron Tour’s routes travel through the Marsh.
This jersey design highlights the important work of French & Pickering in protecting open space and clean water.
